HOLLYWOOD — It was the law of averages that brought Monica Bellucci to the silver screen.
The raven-haired Italian beauty was studying law in Milan when a friend suggested she could help pay for her tuition by modelling.
“A lot of modelling work came very quickly, and then came the movies, but that was slower,” says Bellucci, who is currently filming a role in the two Matrix sequels.
Her first English-language role was a small part in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 movie, Dracula.
“I had a scene with Keanu Reeves. I am now in his Matrix movies. I know how very lucky I am to have been working so much. I know many talented people who aren’t as fortunate.”
Bellucci is currently starring opposite her husband Vincent Cassel in the French costume drama Brotherhood of the Wolf.
